There's something for everyone at a busy Easter weekend at the East Somerset Railway
We are steaming Good Friday to Easter Monday, with trains at 11:00,
12:30, 14:00 & 16:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 11:00, 12:30, 14:00,
15:00 & 16:30 on Sunday and Monday.
Train engine will be 5637 (GWR 0-6-2T).
'Driver for a Fiver'
A new attraction will be short footplate rides on Barclay tank 'Lord
Fisher'. Members of the public (16 or older) will be able to take the
controls for £5 and have their first experience of driving a steam
engine. Some get hooked and are welcomed back as volunteers!
We are very happy to announce the return of our Easter vehicle rally,
with plenty of classic cars and commercials. Miniature traction engines
will be present over the weekend, and on Easter Monday a 5" and 7 1/4"
ground level track courtesy of the recently formed East Somerset Model
Engineers will offer short rides to the public.
The Whistlestop Restaurant will be open over the whole of Easter,
serving Hot Cross Buns. And needless to say the Easter Bunny will also
be putting in an appearance, distributing Easter Eggs for younger
passengers on Sunday only.
The David Shepherd Gallery will be open, with a fine
selection of his railway and wildlife pictures for sale.
