TODAY WE HAD A VISIT FROM 2 CLASS 66 LOCOMOTIVES.
66159 AND 66151
On Saturday 10th November the East Somerset Railway welcomed to Cranmore Station the Hertfordshire Railtours "Forgotten Tracks" tour, topped and tailed by EWS class 66 locomotives 66159 and 66151.
Over 450 people arrived on this train from London. The railtour stayed for
2 hours during which time passengers had rides over the East Somerset line
hauled by GWR steam locomotive 5637, and were fed and watered in the
Cranmore Station restaurant.
Also on display were Foster Yeoman Class 08 shunter number 08032, formerly
FY33, from Merehead quarry, and Riviera Trains' Mark 2 TSO number 5322.
Both have just been outshopped following extensive refurbishment, repair
and full repainting by Cranmore Traincare and Maintenance Services, the
East Somerset Railway's commercial train maintenance operation.
08032 was completed in 1954 and
originally numbered 13044, later D3044.
It is believed to be the oldest Class 08 still working in industrial use.
